If you’re overweight, there is more fat around your neck, which makes air passages smaller. If these passages are smaller, then you’ll be struggling to breathe. Excess body fat causes inflammation, and if the inflammation is concentrated around your neck, you are at a higher risk of getting sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is life-threatening; you may either need to shed off that extra weight or talk to a medical professional to get a machine that can help you breathe well when you’re sleeping.
Type 2 Diabetes
This is another health risk of having excess weight. Type 2 diabetes is a health issue whereby the blood sugar levels rise above the normal range. You may end up even getting heart disease. Also, it may lead to stroke, blindness, kidney disease, and amputation. If you have type 2 diabetes, then your insulin-producing cells work harder to maintain your blood sugar at normal levels, which may eventually cause them to fail.
